There arre 19 towers in the wall of the Kremlin. In 1935 the double headed imperial eagles were removed form the five tallest towers and replaced two years later with stars of red glass, each weighing between 1-1.5 tons. The Secret Tower has an underground passage leading to the river. It was used to obtain water during sieges.
